Description

Photographs taken by Peter Rothschild in the 1950s.

Includes photographs of the following:

Women's fencing competitions at the British Empire Games in Auckland in 1950, including several photographs of three women, one of whom is in fencing uniform and another in the England team blazer, and one photograph of a man in the New Zealand team blazer;

The interior and exterior of Karapiro Hydro-electric Power Station;

The opening or closing ceremony of the British Empire Games in Auckland in 1950;

The exterior, grounds, and radio antennae of the Musick Memorial Radio Station at Musick Point in Auckland, and men working inside the station;

The exterior of a food bar named "Nibble Nook Health Spot", which may also have been taken during the Empire Games, as it has a sign welcoming "Empire visitors";

Two couples at a beach;

The exterior and interior of a mid-twentieth century style house.

Arrangement: Photographs originally were rolled, some together with negatives. They were bound with strips of paper and rubber bands, and stored in a box.
