Description

Cartoon by Ronald Edwin Kennedy depicts Norman Kirk, Prime Minister holding up a lighted match to the fuse of a large cannon labelled "Deregistration big gun". A worker carrying a placard which reads "Everybody out" stands by the mouth of the cannon. Caption at top reads " Would you believe..." and caption at bottom reads "They both vote Labour?". The dog character to one side thinks "I've had a gutsful". Refers to industrial unrest, strikes by workers, tensions between the government and unions, Kirk's frustration with the unions which he expressed publicly in July 1974 as "having had a gutsful", and the threat of union deregistration.
