Description

Collection comprises botanical fern specimens and related research papers:

- 'Ferns' - a collection of fern specimens mounted in a school exercise book compiled by "Mrs K Wood", with print of kowhai plant mounted on front cover. Inside front cover is an inscription stating "I hope this will help you to learn more about some of the ferns. K. Wood", and an ownership inscription of "B. Beattie". The specimens are named with both scientific binomials and common names given, with some collection locations noted, including Huia.

- a typescript guide to the ferns found on Rangitoto Island 'Rangitoto: Species list of commoner ferns and flowering plants', no date given, but after 1951.

- Single leaf annotated copy of an identification guide to ferns.

- Newspaper cutting "Will we try to have a fernery?" by Muriel Fisher, no date.
