Photographic prints of Māori carvings from Northland, taken by Margaret Orbell, Gordon Walters, and unidentified photographers (from a folder labelled "Northland carvings". Some are copy prints from institutional collections.
Includes "skull boxes" (waka kōiwi/waka tūpāpaku), which were traditionally used for keeping ancestors' bones in, from various locations including Whangaroa. Also includes a photocopy of a photograph (from the Dominion Museum) of Tokopikowhakahau carved whare rūnanga near Okoroire, and some pages of an article by David Simmons about the 'Kaipara lintel'.
