Concrete structures

Transparencies of concrete construction in New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey Thornton or Jocelyn Thornton. Each slide mount is annotated with the name or brief description, and/or the location, of the concrete structure. Dates and photographer name are sometimes annotated. Buildings/structures and locations annotated on the slide mounts include house in Mercer Road near Waitepeka, ruins of concrete cottage on Mercer Road "Waitawheta" [probably Waitepeka], Bastion Hill water tower at Wanganui, Riverina [Wilson house] at Warkworth, 'Little Riverina' house at Warkworth, Racing Club grandstand at Waverley, Overton [at Marton], various aspects of Fort Ballance in Wellington, and former Clayton house at Queen Margaret College in Wellington.

Arrangement: Transparencies were arranged in a six-row, 43 slides per row, metal case. The case was not labelled; the order appears have begun as largely alphabetical by location, name of building/structure, or name of station/farm; however, arrangement becomes more disordered in the last two rows of the case.

Processing information: Slides have been removed from container and put into archival pockets, following the original order, from left to right and top to bottom.
