Description

Transparencies of South Island vacation, mainly from February 1968. Likely taken by Evelyn Hare. Some photographs have captions.

Locations photographed on Hare's 1968 trip include Coronet Peak (including ski field chair lifts, views from bus); Cook River; La Perouse and Aoraki/Mount Cook; Arrowtown street scene; gondolas and buildings at Queenstown's Skyline Gondola; and aerial views of Queenstown, Lake Coleridge, and Southern alps. Photographs that are not dated, but also likely from the 1960s, show locations visited on a Mount Cook & Southern Lakes Tourist Co Ltd. bus tour. These include the tour bus, signs for Lake Pukaki and Lake Ohau, and lake views with a Southern Scenic float plane on the water in one and a playground on the lake shore in the other [Wanaka?]. Also includes a photograph of unidentified passengers boarding a National Airway Corporation (NAC) plane at Wellington Airport.
