"Summer city", Wellington

All images taken at the soundshell in Wellington Botanic Gardens, showing the audience and participants at the annual "Summer City"; events organised by Wellington City Council. Crowds of men, women and children are seen, sitting on the ground or moving around. There is a small marquee-style tent "Information Booth" in the background. Ans Westra has focussed on two Māori men in frames 1 to 10. They are standing, one with his arms around the other (frames 1 & 2), then one is sitting on the ground, talking to a young pākehā woman while the other man is standing and leaning over (frames 3 to 10). In frames 4 & 5 the man standing is holding a knife, holding it against his wrist while the young woman cringes away, she is not seen in the next images. A woman (identified as singer "Rhonda" [Bryers]) is glimpsed amongsta crowd in frame 11, and is seen signing her autograph in frame 12. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified.
