- Description
All scenes taken during the Waitangi Day land protests in 1982. Many show police lined up against the protesters, mostly young Māori and pākehā men and women. Young men are being ushered away by police in frames 3 & 5; frame 6 is a close-up view of a man and woman watching from a distance. A rope barrier lies on the ground with large oil drums behind, and there are people holding up placards which read "Ake Ake Ake", "Boycott Waitangi", "Not one more bloody acre", "Bastion Point is Māori land", and "Waitangi is a racist celebration" (frames 7 to 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
