Description

Numbers of people are seen outside, at Waitangi during a Māori land protest. Rows of police are seen in frame 1; Ans Westra focusses on a man wearing sunglasses and a sunhat with a young child and a woman (frames 3 to 6); a young woman is leaning against a tree by the beach (frame 7); then frames 8 to 12 show more views of the police and protesters. Placards held by the protesters include "Waitangi Treaty a rip off", Not one more acre", Fight the privilege of being white", and partially visible "[Wa]kefield, [foun]ding father or [lan]d grabber", "Land on loan since 1885!", and "Muldoon supports the Treaty of Waitangi". Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
