Description

Scenes taken at Hikurangi, all showing Māori people. Frame 2 shows a young boy working on a jigsaw puzzle in a classroom at Hikurangi School. A number of children are coming out of school, crowded in a doorway (frame 3); women are meeting their children after school (frames 5 to 7); a woman is gardening in a planter border outside one of the school buildings (frames 4 & 8 to 10), with two children watching her (frame 10); and a young man wearing a cap and carrying a transistor radio is leaning against a dress shop window (frames 11 & 12). Ans Westra, the photographer, is seen in reflection in the shop window (frame 11). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
