- Description
Scenes taken at Hikurangi. A number of workmen are preparing the ground for laying concrete paving along the roadside in Hikurangi township, with the Hikurangi District War Memorial Hall visible in the background (frames 2 to 4). A large concrete mixer is partially visible in all these frames. A woman is bending over, washing a small boy's legs in a soapy water in a basin outside in a school playground (frames 5 & 6). Frames 7 to 12 were taken inside a school classroom (probably Hikurangi School). They include a small boy lying on a sleeping mat in a classroom (frame 7), and the same child sitting on the mat (frame 12); and a woman teacher is working with small children creating paper cutouts (frames 8 to 11). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
