- Description
Frames 9 to 12 show several Māori men attending Manawatu Power Boat races on Lake Horowhenua in 1981. They are seen by their car by Lake Horowhenua. Frame 1 shows two pairs of legs, two people lying on the roof of their car in the sun. A young Māori girl is seen walking on a water-logged waka which has been raised from the lake bottom (frames 2 to 9). A Māori woman and other children are seen watching her from the bank (frames 5 to 7). (See Ans Westra reference number AW-2296, frames 2 to 6, showing two young men raising a sunken waka). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
