- Description
All images show people during a major demonstration against the Springbok Tour in the Newtown area, Wellington. A number of images show numbers of protesters, most wearing hard hats or helmets, and carrying placards (frames 2 & 4); several policemen are standing outside a house up above the road on the corner of Waripori and Rintoul Streets (frames 1 & 3) with numbers of protesters below facing a group of police riot squad wearing full protective gear, carrying truncheons at the ready (frame 1). Protesters, marching down Rintoul Street are carrying placards, including "Support the Blacks of Azania: Join the fight. Boot out the Boks" (frame 4). Then people are seen milling around on the corner of Rintoul and Riddiford Streets, with road signs pointing to the Zoo (on the left) and Citizens' Advice Bureau on the right) (frames 5 to 8 & 10 to 11).
