Springbok Tour demonstrations

All images show anti-tour protesters and spectators in Wellington. They were taken in the City and Thorndon area, including Jervois Quay, Tinakori Road, the motorway overbridge above the Hutt Road, and down on the Hutt Road. A large crowd is sitting across the middle of the road in Jervois Quay, blocking traffic, with the Wharf Offices on the left (frame 1); and a large crowd of protesters is blocking a car from driving up Tinakori Road, Murrayfield Drive visible on the right, with a placard reading "Allblocks' Toys, Racist Ploys" (frames 2 to 4 & 12). A group is being turned around and pushed back by police on the Motorway Overbridge near Hobson Street (frames 6 & 7); several people are walking onto the garden across Hobson Street with the German Embassy building visible in the background (frames 8 & 9); then a group is at the bottom of Tinakori Road on the corner of Thorndon Quay, with the building partially used by Downtown Cellars (frame 11 & 12).
