"March of pride", Porirua, April 7, 1981

All frames taken at the "March of Pride" organised by four women, Tina Kunz, Maureen Vicars, Sharrron Johns and Agnes Willoughby, on 7 April 1981. Women and children marched from Waitangirua Mall to the Porirua City Council Chambers, starting with a small group which grew to more than seventy. Placards being carried included "Everywhere the good and the bad"; "March of pride"; "Porirua proud"; "Be proud Porirua"; "Porirua is home sweet home to me"; Porirua has good and bad ugly truth of it"; and "[Social] Credit supports the march". The Labour reprsentative for the Kapiti electorate, Margaret Shields, is seen on the right in frames 5 to 7. Three young boys are sitting on the ground outside the Porirua Branch of the Bank of New South Wales Savings Bank (frame 11); and four young men are working out in an unidentified gym building in Porirua at night (frame 12).Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified.
