- Description
All images were taken at the centennial celebrations of whare nui Ngā Tau e Waru at Te Ore Ore marae, Masterton, on 22 March 1981. Ans Westra has focused on individuals attending the celebrations. Frames 1 to 5 were taken inside a large marquee where the hakari (celebratory feast) had been enjoyed. They show a group of women washing dishes at the end of the feast. A young woman is bottle-feeding her baby, sitting among a group of young people outside, watching an event (frames 6 & 8); numbers of people are sitting in rows watching activities (unseen) (frame 9); two women are sitting under trees (frame 11); and two men are standing by a young horoeka (lancewood tree) (frames 10 & 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
