Scenes at the Avondale Racecourse at the New Zealand Polynesian Festival, in February 1981. In all views Ans Westra has focussed on individuals or small groups. Several young women are lying on the ground, laughing, in front of the grandstand (frames 1 to 4); other people are relaxing in the sun (frames 5 to 7); two men are shaaring a platter of kai (food), with the man on the right wearing a straw sunhat and a large hei tiki (frames 8 to 10); and women are seen in the grandstand (frames 11 & 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
