Description

Scenes, probably at Te Tii Marae, Waitangi, or nearby in Paihia, in 1981. All images are close-up views of individuals or small groups. They include an older woman (kuia) seen on her own (frame 1) and with another younger woman (frames 2 to 4); a man in an open window (frame 7) and with a young boy (frame 8); then a man holding a large banner, standing on a lawn with the sea in the background (frame 11) and several people holding protest placards including one reading "Maori control of Maori things". Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
