- Description
Scenes at Te Tii Marae, Waitangi, on Waitangi Day 1981. Dame Whina Cooper, wearing "raukura" (clusters of feathers worn as hair ornaments) is seen at Waitangi at the time of her investiture (frames 1 to 4, 7, 11 & 12). She is seen in a large marquee in frames 1 to 4 talking to Sir James Henare who is holding a ceremonial stick "tokotoko". He is also seen with her and Sir Graham Latimer in frame 7, and he is seen signing a book (frame 6). Dame Whina is also seen signing a book (frame 12); and there are views of people taking photographs of the events (frames 8 & 9). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified.
