Māori men, women and children at Ratana

All views taken at Ratana at the annual celebration commemorating the birth of Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana on January 25th. A man wearing dark trousers and a white singlet top is walking across an open area with a large crowd in the background (frame 1); a group of men and women are listening to a speech[?] (frames 2 to 12). They include a young girl holding tightly to her mother (frames 2 to 7), and an older woman (kuia) wearing a pendant with the Whetū Mārama symbol of the star and moon (representing enlightenment through the Christian trinity te Matua, te Tama me te Wairua Tapu (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit), ngā Anahera Pono (the faithful angels) and the revelations of te Māngai (mouthpiece or prophet) (frames 6 & 7) and a similar pendant is worn by a woman in frame 9; and a young family is seen in frames 10 to 12.
