- Description
All frames taken at the opening of the Pipitea Marae on 31st May 1980. They were taken inside the wharenui after the formal ceremonies were over. They show a group of women performing a waiata ā ringa (action song), with Ans Westra focussing on one woman wearing a dark satin skirt and top over a light shirt with bow at the neck (frames 3 to 5). Several people are standing on the floor by the stage watching (frame 6), and a baby is sleeping in its father's arms (frame 7). The following frames (8 to 12) show a group of women preparing food in a kitchen, possibly with puha (leafy vegetable) being made ready for a very large pot. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
