- Description
All frames taken in the vicinity of the St George Hotel, Boulcott Street, Wellington. After the announcement in April 1980 that there would be a Springbok rugby tour to New Zealand in 1981 various anti-tour groups such as HART (Halt All Racist Tours) started protesting. Frames one and two show two young women one of whom is holding a leaflet "Oppose Apartheid. Stop the 1981 Tour". Placards include "Stop the '81 Tour"; "No comment"; Racism - Who cares? - Tours bring $$$"; Blazey racist tour not wanted"; and "81 no tour". Three people have been identified: Francis Wevers (frames 1 & 2, in the background behind the two young women); Marei Bollinger (frame 4 in the centre) and Tim Lovell-Smith (frame 10). A policeman is standing watch (frames 3, 11 & 12). Catholic church St Mary of the Angels is seen in the background (frames 7 to 9 & 11 & 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified.
