All scenes taken during the opening of urban pan-tribal marae, Glen Eden, Auckland on 19th April 1980. The first five frames were taken inside a tent at night, with a woman changing her baby's nappies amid piles of bedding (frame 1); women singing and dancing (frames 2 & 3); a young boy lying on a mattress (frame 4). Frames 6 to 12 were taken outside the next morning. They show a young man with dreadlocks holding a toddler in in his arms (the child drinking from a carton of Zap chocolate milk, frames 6 to 9); and groups of people walking away from a marquee and tents (frames 10 to 12), some carrying blankets (including one woman carrying a crocheted blanket, frame 11). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
