- Description
All scenes taken during the opening of urban pan-tribal marae, Glen Eden, Auckland on 19th April 1980. Most were taken outside as dusk was falling. Crowds are seen watching large groups of performers in front of the wharenui, women (frames 1 to 4), and men (frames 5 & 6). Frames 7 to 12 each show close up views. A young man with his son on his shoulders (frame 6); an older man carrying a toddler wrapped in a blanket (frame 7); two young people playing a hand game with a woman sitting behind them (frame 9); two women standing talking with a baby in a pram beside them (frames 10 & 11); and two women sitting outside on a log with a line of tea towels drying behind them (frame 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
