- Description
All scenes taken during the opening of urban pan-tribal marae, Glen Eden, Auckland on 19th April 1980. Most were taken outside as dusk was falling. A woman wearing a pari (woven bodice) and tipare (head band) is seen in frame 1. Two young women are seen leadning against a wall in frames 3 to 6; crowds are seen in tiered seats, many with blankets over their knees (frames 8 to 10, & 12); and young men are seen performing a haka with a line of young women with poi at their waists behind them, all in front of the wharenui. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
