A dance party/ball at the Wellington Town Hall, possibly held by the New Zealand Seamen's Union in a celebration linked with waterfront strikes. (See posters on the wall in reference number AW-1905, frame 12 "1887 N.Z. Seamen form Shipping C[?] to fight shipowners"; "1890 Great Maritime Strike"; and "1913 Gen...". A couple are dancing rock & roll (frame 1); a man and woman are standing next to posters about the 1890 strike in the foyer of the Town Hall (frame 2); men and women are standing talking (frames 2 to 4); and Ans Westra focusses on a young man with long thick hair wearing a dark jacket, an open-necked shirt and light-coloured trousers (frames 5, 7, 9, 10 and 12), he is holding a glass of wine.
