All scenes show farewell scenes at an unidentified event in the area near the Lower Hutt Horticultural Hall and Dowse Art Gallery in 1979. Images include close-up views of unidentified Māori men and women (frame 1); a young Māori woman with moko, wearing a pari (bodice) and hei tiki, talking to a woman smoking a cigarette (frame 2) and on her own (frame 3); a group of men performing a haka in front of two chartered buses (frames 4 to 10), with two small boys on the ground in front of them; and people watching the haka (frames 11 & 12). One man performing in the haka (3rd from left in frames 5 to 7) has been identified as Bill Nathan. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
