- Description
All scenes were taken outside the Dowse Art Gallery in 1979. Men and women, pakeha and of several Polynesian nationalities are seen in groups outside the gallery. Several women are wearing dresses with patterns of hibiscus motifs (frames 1, 4 & 5). The Lower Hutt Civic Centre is seen in the background (frame 4); two buses are seen on the road in the background (frame 2) with a man in the foreground (possibly a bus driver?). An older Māori woman is seated, holding a kete on her lap (frame 7); and a young Māori woman with a moko, wearing costume and a pendant in the shape of a mere (frame 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
