- Description
All scenes relate to the General Strike held in Wellington on 20th September 1979, while Prime Minister Robert Muldoon was in power. People are seen with placards and banners reading "NZ Meat Workers Union. Longburn" (frame 3); a man and woman with a placard reading "Wellington Peace Committee", with in front of them, under an umbrella, two young boys with their own placard reading "My piggy bank is empty" (frames 1 and 2); other placards read "A living wage for all", "PPTA protests", "Fight repressive laws", and "Wellington Hotel Workers Union". A corner of the National library building is seen in the background (frames 1 & 2), and The Beehive is seen in frames 5, 7 & 8. Policemen are seen in a dense line in frame 12.
