- Description
All images taken at the Dowse Art Gallery, Lower Hutt, during the opening of an exhibition of a major series of works on Parihaka by Selwyn Muru. Some scenes show ceremonies, whakatau, speeches, and hongi, before finally entering the gallery to view the art. Huirangi Waikerepuru (holding a photograph of Te Whiti), Marjorie Rau-Kupa (wearing Raukura feathers), Ngahina Okeroa and Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan are seen seated in the audience (frame 1). Ngahina Okeroa is also seen in frame 12, wearing a crocheted blanket over her dress. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
