- Description
All frames taken in Wellington during the Commonwealth tour celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee. Frames 1 & 2 show a group of protesters demanding the withdrawal of British troops from Ireland. They are carrying placards reading "Monarchy. Political tyranny at the tax payers' expense"; "Troops Out Movement for Irish self determination"; "[... Troops out of Ireland"; "British killers out of Ireland"; and "Ireland for the Irish." Other images show groups of older women wearing hats, and patterned dresses, and carrying handbags and "Welcome" flags. A woman, surrounded by caregivers, appears to have fainted (frame 8). A couple of young men are holding up a highly decorated banner reading "God bless our Royal Family" (frames 9 to 12). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified.
