Description

All frames related to a huge protest by the Wellington Trades Council, with about 12,000 workers demonstrating against wage controls and the fall in living standards. Held in Parliament grounds in June 1976. [See internet: . Page 206 in the book "A history of Trade Unions in New Zealand" by Peter Franks (Victoria University Press. 2001).] There are some groups of young Māori including members of the Black Power gang. One placard against the protest reads "Unionists ... You are greedy, not needy" (frames 1, 2, & 7 to 10). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
