- Description
All frames show pro abortion demonstrators on the lawns in front of Parliament. Many are bearing placards which include "Back street abortion will escalate"; "[Royal] Commission report threatens NZ with worse than Vatican rule"; "Commission condones enforced Labour - my conscience is irrelevant"; "Women reject Royal Commission as barbaric"; "Repeal all abortion laws"; and "Women aren't state property...". The nearly completed "Beehive" is visible in the background in frames 1, 2 & 8. Taken during the time Robert Muldoon was Prime Minister and Frank Gill was Minister of Health. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
