- Description
Celebrations for the 1976, 28th Māori Battalion, 10th National Reunion at Te Poho-o-Rāwiri. Held at Easter weekend 1976. Frames 1 to 8 were taken indoors in a large hall, with skylights in the roof, during an official ceremony including prayers, singing and speeches, with people holding programme sheets. In a number of images Ans Westra focusses on children amongst the audience. Frames 7 & 8 show Māori army members in uniform holding their army rifles in an honor guard. A woman in frames 11 and 12 wears her name tag which reads "Mrs Bennett" (Possibly Kathleen (Kaa) Bennett, the wife of the Reverend Manu Bennett.) Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
