- Description
All frames show people at a trade union protest march in 1976, relating to the Government's economic policies. Marchers include workers and union officials. Various placards and banners read "Freezing Workers ... Cut profits, not wages"; "Unity is strength"; NZ Harbour Board Workers [Wellington?] Branch"; "Workers speak up. Call your unions"; "NZ Seamans Union. Wellington Branch"; "Cooks and Stewards Union"; Govt are law breakers"; and, "End wage fixing". They appear to be marching from central Wellington, through Newtown, with the carillon visible in the background (frames 10 & 11). A Māori man is talking to a pākehā (wearing a beret) who is sitting on a bicycle with a large bin on the back of the bike. The bin is covered with posters and on top a notice reading "Sin Collector Peace". Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
