- Description
All frames were taken at the Trentham Racecourse. Most of the people Ans Westra focusses on are Māori, including a man in frame one who has a toy poodle tucked under his arm. A young Māori man talking to a group is wearing a shark's tooth pendant (frames 2 to 5. He is also seen in Ans Westra item AW-1429 (frames 1, 2 & 4).) Two men are leaning against a building, one Māori and one pākehā, both looking at their form books, with a flight of stairs visible in the background (frames 7 to 9.) A Māori woman wearing a long dress and dark cardigan jacket is smoking a cigarette while studying her form book, with a pākehā man holding a toddler alongside her (frames 9 and 10. Both also seen in item AW-1429 (frames 8 & 9), and AW-1430 (frames 1, 4 & 6.) Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
