Description

All images were taken in October 1975, in the grounds of Parliament when Māori land protesters consolidated their position, moving their gear from their tents to an 'Embassy tent,' with a large sign reading "Maori Embassy." The new Beehive building is seen under construction in the background in frames 2, 3, 7 and 8. A woman with her baby and young child are seen in the doorway of a car in front of Parliament, and frames 10 and 11 show young families sitting on the front steps. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
