Description

Arrival of a fancy dress parade at the Wellington Zoo, part of a summer holiday programme in the Newtown area in 1976. Frames 1 to 4 show young children wearing costumes and face paint watching the end of the parade. A Māori woman wearing a pierrot costume, leading a toddler is walking up the hill into the Zoo grounds in frame 6, and relaxing on the grass (frame 7.) Zoo cages are seen in the background in frames 8 and 9, and a group are relaxing on the path above the duck pond in frames 10 to 12. Clown costumes are among those being worn. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
