- Description
All images taken during a fancy dress parade probably part of a summer holiday programme held in the Newtown area in 1976. Some show young spectators along the route, many wearing masks and face paints. Others show members of the parade including a man with a beard wearing a woman's corset and a beret, carrying a handbag. In frames 10 and 11 they are passing a building labelled "The Lions Club of Wellington." Two men in frame 12 are members of a band, the drummer bearig a sign around his neck reading "City of Wellington Lowland Pipe Band". Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
