Description

All images taken in the Newtown area. Frame one shows a woman and child Watching the street while standing outside a building with a small sign in the window reading "Wellington Tenants Protection Assn." with large black crosses on the walls. Frames 2 and 3 show people across the road from the Pacific Islanders' Presbyterian Church on the corner of Daniell and Constable Streets. The following images show children in fancy dress, a man with a drum and a label around his neck reading "City of Wellington Lowland Pipe Band", perhaps preparing for a parade through the newtwon area. (See images in following sequences (AW-1370 to AW-1374). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
