- Description
All frames were taken outside the World Trade Fair held in Wellington at the Winter Show Building in John Street in 1975. A young Māori man is holding a small terrier in his arms with a long queue of people waiting to go into the fair behind him. The Hanson Street Flats are seen in the background. Frames 3 to 8 show protesters with placards which read "[Swastika image crossed out, and Hammer & Sickle crossed out] for world freedom"; "New Zealand does not recognise the P.R.G."; "God's ideal is freedom not Communism"; and "Wake-up N.Z. Communism itself is wrong." A young man is squatting down playing a guitar facing the protesters while groups and families are coming away from the fair (frames 8 to 10). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
