Description

Black and white original photographic negative.

Depicts historic cemetery, the corresponding print is accompanied by the following note:

"70 years ago a settlement was established at Jacksons Bay, but failed. When putting a telephone line through the bush last year, workmen discovered this old cemetery." (PAColl-10550-2-49).

In the typescript the caption states "Whilst engaged in erecting a telephone line through the bush, workmen of th emodern Jacksons Bay settlement, were surprised to come upon this old graveyard - a relic of the days of long ago." (MS-Papers-12199-11).
