Description

All frames show the aftermath of a huge demonstration by members of various trade unions and onlookers at a protest during a 24 hour work stoppage called by the Trades Council. It affected journalists, printers, bus drivers, hotel workers, boilermakers, drivers, seamen and waterside workers. All frames show emptier streets, with a few people holding placards, all of which are opposed to the protest. They read "Right to strike, but, right to work too. Unions stop bullying"; and "Hitler was right !! F.O.L [i.e. Federation of Labour] will be next. Trade Council deceased." There are still a few policemen on patrol, and a number of onlookers. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
