Photographs of the demolition of an earthquake damaged building at 61 Molesworth Street, Thorndon, Wellington, taken by Brett Rigarlsford between approximately 28 November 2016 and 26 January 2017.
The building at 61 Molesworth Street was built in the early 1960s as the head office of British company ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries), and later housed the offices of the accounting firm, Deloitte, until 2005. Following the magnitude 7.8 Kaikoura earthquake on 14 November 2016, the building was deemed unfit for purpose and demolition commenced 28 November 2016. A concrete mural on the ground floor by sculptor Jim Allen was retained.
