- Description
All frames show people lining the streets of Wellington after the funeral ceremony for Prime Minister Norman Kirk at St Paul's Cathedral, Molesworth Steet, Wellington, 4th September 1974. Views show many holding umbrellas on the wet day, with buildings in the background, including the Chief Post Office, the Beehive under construction, and the cenotaph. The cortege was en route to the airport for the casket to be flown to Christchurch and on to Timaru for his burial at Waimate cemetery. Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
