Description

A Maori man with full facial moko sits wrapped in a cloak on the ground in fornt of a whare. A young boy kneels in front of him, feeding him food. A gourd and a kete are seen placed next to a taiaha. Hutton explains: 'On some occasions a Maori is made tapu or holy. When amongst other [?] they are not allowed to touch food with their hands, so others feed them or they pick it up with the mouth.'
