Photographic prints taken by various photographers including Hanna, Valerie Studios, and R. W. Brown (Castle Bromwich, Birmingham), taken circa 1895-1946.

Comprises images relating to Roy Cowan's war service during World War Two, particularly of aircraft (including a 'Fairey Battle'i), trucks, landscapes and portraits of people, mostly while he was serving in East Africa, and other locations, circa 1939-1945. Also includes images of Cowan family members including James Cowan, circa 1895-1900; a photograph of a framed image of the Auckland Annual Regatta, 1895, which includes "Lieut. J. Cowan" (James Cowan); two images of a racing car inside some cards sent to Roy Cowan from Hanne and Geoff [Easterbrook-Smith]; and a letter to John Cowan from the N.Z. Sports Car Club, relating to the Paekakariki Hill Climb, dated 2 June 1946. Many of the photographs have annotations on the back including names of some of the subjects.
