Description

Photographs of people, landscapes, seascapes and ships, taken by various photographers including C. Troughton Clark, James Cowan, Roy Cowan, between circa 1900 and 1950s. Comprises:

- A studio portrait of an unknown Māori woman dressed in a kākahu (feather cloak) with feathers in her hair. Processed by C. Troughton Clark of Rotorua.

- A studio portrait of Major Mair (William Gilbert[?]) circa 1910s, taken by Kinsey of Wellington.

- An image of three girls doing an activity with metal objects, circa 1950s.

- An image of rata flowers, possibly taken by James Cowan on 6 January 1928.

- An image of a river and surrounding landscape with trees.

- An image of a Waimakariri River valley, taken by J R Cowan (also known as Roy Cowan).

- An image of trees with a mountain backdrop, in the Arthurs Pass area, taken by J R Cowan.

- An image of a cannon (described as a "muzzle-loader") on Mount Victoria in Wellington, taken by J R Cowan.

- Thirteen images of various ships (includes photographs of drawings, paintings or model ships). The named ships include the 'Sir George Grey', HMS 'Eclipse', 'Loch Garve', HMS 'Castor', 'Charlotte Jane', 'Kent', 'Resolution', 'Adventure', HMS 'North Star', and 'Sunny South'. Some of these prints were processed by Hanna of Auckland.
