- Description
Interior view of a schoolroom, with bare boards for floor and walls, crossed swords on one wall and a row of bells. The facing wall features a brightly painted facade, including yellow columns and a scene depicting the Rialto Bridge in Venice. Hutton's accompamying text states: 'Fittings up of a New Zealand school room. When the green baize curtain is drawn up you see ladies and gentlemen, a correct representation of the waves of the sea - at least you may believe it to be so by a very strong stretch of the imagination.'
