Images showing scenes from the official unveiling of the 28th Maori Battalion National War Memorial Community Centre, in Palmerston North, which was designed by architect John Scott. Photographs taken on 27 June 1964 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified.
Shows scenes of the powhiri (welcome) for the Governor General, Sir Bernard Ferguson, beginning with the wero (challenge). Also includes the march past of members of the Maori Battalion, led by Arapeta Awatere.
